Aruna Musical New

If you walk down Vanivillas Road toward Gandhi Bazaar, you’ll find us tucked in there at Aruna Musical New. This part of town is always crowded, especially in the mornings with the flower sellers and the smell of coffee. Our shop isn't very large, but we’ve managed to fit a lot of instruments inside. There are sitars leaning against the walls and guitars hanging from the ceiling. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when more than three people walk in at once. We spend a lot of time tuning things or just dusting off the harmoniums that sit on the lower shelves. People stop by to pick up some spare strings or maybe just to see if we have any old flutes in stock. It’s a bit noisy outside with all the traffic and the people shouting in the market, but inside it’s different. We usually have some music playing softly in the background, though it's often interrupted by someone trying out a drum. We aren't some big corporate showroom with bright lights. The floorboards creak a little and the shelves are made of old wood. It’s just a place for people who like music to come and browse. We know most of the regulars who live around here. They drop in for a chat more than anything else. It's a simple life running a music shop in an old neighborhood like this one. There is always something to fix or a string to change.
