Ammas Pastries

You can find our little bakery at number 4 on the 16th Cross in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar. It is a bit of a quieter street compared to some of the busier main roads in this area. We usually have to get to work while it is still dark outside so we can start on the baking for the day. There is a lot of mixing, measuring, and prep work that happens before we even think about opening the doors to the public. We mostly sell various cakes and small sweets that people like to pick up on their way home from work or school. The display cases are always filled with different things we’ve made that morning. We try our best to keep everything looking neat and organized on the shelves. We have a fairly small staff and most of us have been working here together for a long time. It feels a bit like a small family in the back room. We know many of the people who live in the houses nearby because they come in so often for a loaf of bread or a snack. Sometimes the delivery truck that brings our supplies is late and we have to adjust our schedule. That is just how things go in this business. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do. It’s just food that we make every day. The floor needs sweeping all the time. We like being in RT Nagar.
