Allied Design Studio

If you take Varthur Main Road through Jayanagar, you’ll find Allied Design Studio at number 263/1. It’s a small building squeezed between a grocery store and a tailor shop. We have been working out of this studio for quite some time now. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so many drawings and materials piled up on the shelves. There are four of us who work here full-time. We focus on design work for people who live in the area. It’s not a fancy place with leather chairs or anything like that. We just have some basic desks and a lot of pens. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to close the windows, even when it’s hot. We mostly get our work through people recommending us to their friends. We don't do any big advertising. We think it’s better to just do the work and let people talk. On Fridays, we usually order food from the place across the street and talk about what we're doing for the weekend. We aren't trying to be the biggest firm in the city. We just want to keep the lights on and do work that we don't mind putting our names on. The landlord is a nice guy who lets us use the extra space in the back for our bikes. It’s a comfortable enough spot for a small business like ours to keep going.
