Our place is over here at No. 88 in the Timber Yard Layout, right off Mysore Road. It’s a pretty busy area with all the trucks moving wood around all day. You can usually smell the sawdust in the air when you walk in. Inside, we’ve got samples of laminates and wood pieces stacked against the walls. It’s not the most organized office you’ll ever see, but we know where everything is. We spend a lot of time measuring things and talking about where a cupboard should go or what kind of handle looks right. Some days it feels like we are just moving piles of material from one side of the room to the other. Mysore Road is always jammed, so getting here can be a pain for people, but we’ve been in this spot for a while now. We handle the interior stuff, trying to make sense of what people want for their homes. Often, we are out at sites getting our shoes dusty and checking on how the work is progressing. When we are back at the shop, it’s mostly about drawing and making sure the dimensions are correct. It’s a lot of practical work, not much of the fancy stuff you see in magazines. We just focus on getting the cabinets and wardrobes to fit the space provided. It gets noisy with the traffic outside, but we just shut the door and keep at it. It is just a normal workshop atmosphere.
