If you head down Kilari Road, you’ll find us at number 57. Aarti Commercial Corporation is on the first floor, so you have to walk up the narrow stairs which can be a bit of a workout if you’re carrying anything heavy. Kilari Road is always packed with people and rickshaws, so getting here in the morning is usually an adventure. The office itself is quite old, with high ceilings and some filing cabinets that have definitely seen better decades. It’s a busy spot, mostly because of the location. We handle a lot of commercial paperwork and orders throughout the day. The phone rings a lot, and there’s usually someone stopping by to drop off a sample or pick up a receipt. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic outside, so we’re always wiping down the desks. We don't really do the whole modern office aesthetic; it’s more about having enough space for all the ledgers and boxes. The lighting is a bit dim in the back corner, but we’ve got enough lamps to see what we’re doing. Working in such a crowded market area means you get to know the neighbors well. We share news about the traffic or the weather while we’re waiting for the chai man. It’s a practical way to spend the day, just dealing with the daily tasks as they come. We’ve been here for years and the street never really changes much. It's just home for us now, and we keep things simple.
