A One Rewinding Works

Our shop is right on the 5th Cross of Jaya Chamarajendra Road, just near Lalbag Road. The address is 41403, and it is a busy little corner of the world. We spend most of our time surrounded by copper wire and burnt-out motors that people bring in from all over the city. It is a bit of a messy job, getting all that old insulation out and winding the new coils by hand, but it is what we know. The shop is small and packed to the ceiling with fans, pumps, and heavy motors waiting their turn. There is always a smell of varnish in the air that you get used to after a few days. We don't have a big staff, just me and my cousin and one boy who helps with the deliveries. During the monsoon, the shop gets a bit damp because the roof has a small leak we haven't quite fixed yet, but we move the electrical stuff to the dry side. Customers usually stand on the pavement while we explain what went wrong with their machines. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Bangalore, just the one that gets the motors running again so people can get back to their own work. It is a lot of sitting on low stools and focusing on the wire counts. We don’t have much time for anything else, but it's a living and we like being in this part of town.
