Vemala Chits has its home at No 602 on 45th Cross in Jayanagar’s 8th Block. Jayanagar is a great area because of all the trees and the wide roads, although it’s gotten much more crowded lately. Our office is on 1st A Main Road, and it’s a pretty standard space for a small business. We spend our time managing the various chit groups we have running. It involves a lot of record-keeping and making sure everyone stays informed about their payments and the auction dates. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees; it’s just a small team of us working here. Most days are spent at our desks, surrounded by ledgers and calculators. We’ve been here for a while, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. The local vendors know us, and we often get our tea from the shop just around the corner when the afternoon slump hits. It’s a practical environment without any unnecessary frills. We don't use a lot of fancy jargon; we just explain things the way they are. The office has a few ceiling fans that work hard during the summer months to keep us cool while we sort through the paperwork. It's a comfortable enough place to work and to meet with the people who are part of our chit schemes. We focus on getting the details right and making sure the paperwork is in order. It’s just how we do things in this part of town every day.
