Our office is on St. Marks Road, situated on the first floor of the Sophia's Choice building at number 7/16. It’s a well-known area in Bangalore, and we like being in this part of town despite how crowded it gets. We deal with stone and industrial imports, so our days are mostly spent talking to quarries and shipping agents. The space we have is simple—just some rooms with old desks and a few samples of material lying around. We aren't into the whole modern office design thing; we just need a place to work and take calls. Most of the time, the air is full of the sounds from the street below. Our neighbor in the building is a small accounting firm, so it stays fairly quiet in the hallways during the day. We appreciate the stability of being on St. Marks Road, even if the weekend crowds make it a bit of a scramble to get anything done on a Saturday. This is where we handle the documents and the money side of the business. It’s a lot of back-and-forth communication. We just show up every morning, drink our tea, and start working through the list of things to do. There’s no big secret to how we operate; we just stay organized and make sure the orders get processed as they come in. It’s a decent living and we enjoy the rhythm of the work.
