Our shop is right in the heart of Chickpet at number 231 on OTC Road. If you know Bangalore, you know how crowded and loud this area gets, but that’s where all the action is for silk. SHRESTAA SILKS PRIVATE LIMITED has been operating from here for a while now. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes with all the rolls of fabric and people coming in and out all day. We don't have some big fancy showroom with air conditioning that freezes you out. It’s just a regular place where we keep the stock and talk to customers about what they need. Dealing with silk means we spend a lot of time looking at threads and colors. Some days are incredibly long, especially during wedding seasons when everyone is in a hurry. We mostly focus on getting the right quality in and making sure the weavers are doing their part. It’s a lot of manual work, moving bundles around and checking for any snags in the cloth. The 560053 pin code area is always buzzing, and we’re right in the thick of it. We don't really bother with big ads or anything like that. Most people find us because they’re already down here in the market. It gets dusty and the traffic on OTC Road is a nightmare, but this is where the business happens. We just try to keep enough variety on the shelves and hope the electricity doesn't go out.
