Our office is tucked away in Vivekanandanagar, which is part of Banashankari 3rd Stage in Bangalore. We are at No 22/B on 1st A Main Road, right near the 2nd Cross. It’s a residential part of the city, so it’s generally a bit quieter than the main commercial hubs. Our building is a simple one, and we occupy a space that’s easy to get to from the street. Inside, it’s pretty straightforward with some desks and chairs where we handle all the chit fund work. We spend our days tracking the monthly contributions and organizing the auctions for the members. The neighborhood has a lot of trees, so it stays a bit cooler than the more built-up parts of Bangalore. We don’t have a big staff, so it’s usually just a couple of us here taking care of the records and answering the phone when it rings. People from the nearby streets often walk over to drop off their payments or to check on their account status. It’s a very casual environment; we know most of the people who come in by their first names. We have a small cupboard where we keep all the ledgers, and everything is done in a very traditional way. There’s no fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a room where we do our work and make sure the monthly cycles go off without any issues for the participants.
