You can find us at number 17 Promenade Road, right in the heart of Frazer Town. It is an old part of the city with a lot of character, and we think our building fits right in. Philomena Thumboochetty Music Academy Ll P is where we spend most of our waking hours. There is usually the sound of a violin or a piano coming from one of the rooms, which makes the atmosphere quite nice, even on rainy days. We aren't a big, shiny institution. It’s more like a home that happens to be full of music. We have teachers coming and going, and students of all ages dropping by for their lessons. Sometimes things get a little chaotic when everyone arrives at the same time, but we usually sort it out with a bit of shouting and pointing. We don't use any fancy software to manage things; we mostly just use a big calendar and some notebooks. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. The neighborhood knows us well by now. We’ve been here on Promenade Road for a while, and we’ve seen students grow up and move on. We just focus on the notes and the practice. It's a lot of repetition and sometimes it’s frustrating for the learners, but we just keep at it. There’s no big secret to what we do here, just a lot of practice and time.
