Padmalaya Artisanal Guild Private Limited is tucked away in the Soudhamini Apartment, which is unit AM-204. We are on Kanakpura Road, quite close to the Art of Living Ashram. Being near the Ashram means there is always a bit of a peaceful vibe around, even with the heavy traffic on the main road. We are more of a guild, so it’s about people coming together to work on artisanal things. It is a bit of a squeeze in the apartment sometimes with all the tools and materials we have lying around, but we make it work. We spend our hours focused on the craft, usually with some tea and a bit of conversation while we work. It is not a factory setting. Things move a bit slower here because we pay attention to the details of what we are making. We often have bits of thread and fabric scraps on the floor, but that’s just a sign that we’ve been busy. People stop by sometimes when they are visiting the area, and we just show them what we are currently working on. It’s a very grounded way of living. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that; we just have our hands and the materials we use. It is a simple, honest life centered around making things that have a bit of a human touch to them.
