Our place is located at number 444 in HMT Layout, over in Vidyaranyapura. It’s a bit away from the main city chaos, which is actually quite nice for a change. KANCCHIE SILKS PRIVATE LIMITED is where we spend most of our waking hours. We deal with silks, so there is always a lot of color around the office. It’s not a massive operation. We have a few rooms filled with different types of fabrics and samples that we’ve collected over time. Most of the day is spent talking to suppliers or checking the texture of the latest arrivals. Sometimes we find a few flaws and have to send things back, which is always a bit of a hassle. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, mostly residential around here, so it doesn't feel like a typical industrial area. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. It's just a few of us who know about silk and try to keep things organized. The lighting in the back room isn't the best, so we often take the fabrics over to the window to see the real color in the sun. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and the locals know us. It’s a simple setup without any bells and whistles. We just focus on the cloth and making sure the orders are packed properly. It’s steady work and keeps us busy enough throughout the week. The rain sometimes leaks through the front door, but we manage.
