We’ve been tucked away here on 13th A Main in HAL 2nd stage for quite a while now. Most days start with the sound of the traffic building up outside as we settle in at 1079/5. It’s a busy part of Bangalore, but once you step inside our office, it’s mostly just the sound of keyboards clicking and papers moving around. We handle a lot of the usual tax stuff and filings that people in the neighborhood need help with. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there for a bit waiting for the backup to kick in, which gives us a chance to stretch our legs. It’s not a fancy glass building or anything like that. Just a regular space where we get the work done. The tea stall around the corner is where we usually end up during the afternoon slump. People find us easily enough because we’re near the main landmarks here. It gets a bit dusty in the summer with the windows open, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have a big reception desk or people in suits waiting at the door. It’s just us at our desks, usually buried under some folders or looking at spreadsheets on the monitors. If someone stops by, they usually just knock and come in. We’ve known some of the local shop owners for years. It’s a steady kind of life here in HAL.
