Amar Bharat Chitra Darshan Foundation

We are based in Basavanagudi at House Number 2/C on Sannidhi Road. Basavanagudi is one of those older parts of Bangalore that still has some character left. Amar Bharat Chitra Darshan Foundation operates out of this house. It’s a residential area, so it’s fairly calm most of the time. We have stacks of books and old photos around the place. Our work is mostly about history and the visual things that tell the story of the country. We aren't into big marketing campaigns or anything polished. We just sit here and do the research or organize the archives. Sometimes the neighbors pop in for a chat. The house is old but it serves us well. We don't have a fancy reception desk. Usually, you’ll find someone at the big wooden table in the middle of the room. We drink a lot of coffee while we work. It’s a small team, just a few of us who care about this stuff. We spend hours looking at old reels or prints. It can be slow work, but it’s what we do. Sannidhi Road is a nice street with plenty of trees. We like being in this part of town because it feels like it belongs to the past and the present at the same time. We don't try to sound like a big organization because we aren't one. We are just a local foundation doing our bit in a quiet way. It keeps us quite busy every single day and that’s fine.
