About Razaqia Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru Rural
We are right across from the KSRTC bus stand here in Bheriya. It gets pretty loud with the buses coming and going all day on Mysore Road, but you get used to it after a while. Most days we are busy with the machines running and the smell of raw paddy in the air. It’s a bit dusty, honestly. We’ve been at this spot for some time now. People from around the village bring their grain here. We spend a lot of time moving heavy sacks and making sure everything is stacked right so they don't fall over. My cousin helps out with the ledger when things get hectic in the afternoons. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside near the road and watch the traffic until it comes back on. It’s a simple life at the mill. We don’t have fancy offices or anything like that, just the big sheds and the machines that do the work. The floor is usually covered in husks and we sweep it up at the end of the day before locking the gate. If you’re coming from the main road, you can’t miss us because of the big pile of sacks near the entrance. We try to keep things moving so nobody has to wait too long. It’s hard work, especially in the heat, but it’s what we know how to do here in Bheriya. We usually have some tea around four o'clock.
