Morelay Resource Centre

If you go behind the police station in the Fort area of Channapatna, you’ll find us. We are at number 1126. It’s a bit of a tucked-away spot, but people manage to find their way here eventually. Morelay Resource Centre is what we call it, and it’s been a part of this Ramanagaram district landscape for some time. Vedhavathi and Siddaraju are usually around making sure things aren't too messy. It’s a resource center, so we have a lot of different things going on depending on the day. Sometimes it’s busy with people coming in and out, and other times it’s just us catching up on chores. The building is old but it stays cool in the heat. We don't have a big corporate lobby or a receptionist in a suit. You just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting at the front table. We try to keep the chairs mostly straight, but they move around when folks visit. Living and working so close to the station means it's usually pretty safe around here. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. It’s a practical place for people who need a bit of help or information. We just do what we can with what we have. It’s not flashy, but it works for us and the people who come by. We usually keep a pot of water out for anyone who is thirsty.
