Out here in Kadleguddu, things move at their own pace. J S W Steel Limited has this spot on the land belonging to Nirnjanamurthy’s son. It’s right in the Chitradurga district, so the sun gets pretty hot during the afternoons. Most of us here spend the day looking at manifests and making sure the trucks get in and out without too much trouble. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a practical place where we get the work done. The roads around here can be a bit dusty when the wind picks up, but that is just how it is in this part of Karnataka. We have been at this location for a while now. People in the village know us. Sometimes we have to deal with the power going out, which slows things down, but we just wait it out. There are a few of us working in the small office space, mostly keeping track of what is coming from the main plant. It is mostly about metal and logistics every single day. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. It’s just a gate and some sheds where we handle the daily load. You can find us if you follow the road past the main post office in Kadleguddu. It is straightforward work for honest people who don't mind getting their hands a bit dirty with the red soil around here.
