Shubhamangala Sarees

We are tucked into Shop No. 9 within the Cantonment Shopping Complex. You can find that complex on Goa Road, right in the Camp area. It’s a familiar spot for people who live around here. The shop is full of sarees, which means there’s a lot of color and fabric everywhere you look. We don’t have a massive space, so we have to be smart about how we stack things. Most of our day is spent unfolding and folding fabrics for people who walk in. It’s a lot of standing and moving around. The Camp area can get quite busy, especially on weekends when everyone is out shopping. Being in a complex means we have neighbors on both sides, and we all kind of look out for each other. It’s a simple way of doing business. We don't use any high-tech systems; we just know where everything is kept. Sometimes it gets a bit warm in the shop when it’s crowded, but we have the fans going. We’ve been at this for a while, so we’ve seen the styles change over the years. People come in looking for something specific, and we do what we can to help them find it among the stacks. It’s a very hands-on job. There’s no corporate office or big boss overseeing us. We just run the shop ourselves and make sure the doors are open when they should be. We like the pace of things here in the complex.
