Shivneri Photo Center

You can find Shivneri Photo Center at 1615 Nagori Building, right near the Hutatma Chowk on Ambala Road. It is a place that has seen a lot of faces over the years. The walls are covered with old frames and samples of photos we have taken, from wedding couples to kids who could not sit still for a second. The lighting inside is a bit old-fashioned, but it works for what we do. We have the big backdrops that we pull down when someone needs a formal portrait. Our cameras are kept in a locked cabinet when the shop is closed. The Nagori Building is an older structure, so it has a certain character that you do not find in the new malls. There is always a bit of dust on the windows from the traffic on Ambala Road, but we try to keep the lenses clean. Most of our day is spent editing on the computer or talking to people who want their old, torn photos fixed up. It is slow work sometimes, especially when the printer acts up or the paper jams. We do not have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know we are here because they pass by on their way to the chowk. We enjoy the history of this area. Each photo we print feels like a small piece of someone’s life that they want to keep. It is a decent way to spend the day.
