Duro Tex Fab is situated at 363/B Chavadi Galli. If you’ve ever been down Chavadi Galli, you know it’s a place where a lot of making happens. We deal with textiles, so the place is usually full of rolls of fabric and scraps on the floor. There’s always a bit of lint and dust in the air from the cutting tables. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have a showroom with fancy mannequins or anything. Most of our space is taken up by the machines and the long tables we use for measuring and cutting. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when a new shipment arrives, but we manage. The sounds of sewing machines and heavy scissors are pretty constant throughout the day. We have a few local workers who have been with us for a long time. They know how to handle the different types of cloth without needing much direction. We don’t spend time on social media or advertising. Most people find us through word of mouth or by just walking past our door in the Galli. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting the heavy bolts of fabric and making sure the orders are packed up properly. We just focus on getting the fabric out the door on time. It’s a basic operation, and that’s how we like to keep it. Every day is pretty much the same, just cutting and stitching until the work is done.
