Damodar Iron Works

If you are driving down the Pune Bangalore Road, you will see our place right near the railway crossing. The sound of the trains passing by is something we have just gotten used to over the years. It shakes the windows a bit, but nobody here even looks up anymore. Damodar Iron Works is mostly a place of soot, iron, and the smell of welding torches. It is a big open space where we do all the heavy lifting and metalwork. We don't have a reception desk or a fancy waiting room for visitors. Usually, you will find someone covered in grease or iron dust near the back of the shop. We take on all sorts of iron jobs, whether they are big or small. Some days we are just fixing old gates for neighbors, and other days it is something much larger for a local project. The dust from the road blows in constantly, so everything in here has a thin layer of grey on it. We don't mind the mess. It is an honest way to spend the day. When the crossing gate goes down, the traffic piles up right outside our door. Sometimes people wander in just to see what all the banging and noise is about. We have been at this spot for a long time. It isn't a clean job, but we like the work and being right here where everyone passes by.
