Jamadar Farm

Jamadar Farm is out in Diggewadi, near Basav Nagar in the Raybag area. Life here follows the seasons more than the clock. We spend most of our time outdoors, dealing with the soil and the crops. It’s hard work and your hands are rarely clean. The farm is a place where there’s always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a fence or a piece of equipment. We live and work right here at the post. It’s quiet in the mornings before the sun gets too high. We don't have a big office or a staff of people in suits. It’s just us and the land. We grow what we can and take care of the animals we have. The weather is something we talk about every day because it decides how our week is going to go. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when we need it, and other times there's too much of it. We don't use any fancy terminology for what we do. It’s just farming. We sell what we produce to the local markets around Raybag. People know the Jamadar name around here because we’ve been on this land for a long time. It’s a simple existence, but it keeps us tired and fed. The dirt under our fingernails is just part of the job. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just trying to keep the farm running for another year. It's a lot of sweat, but the fresh air is worth it.
