It’s a straightforward building where we handle all the mineral business paperwork. We have a few rooms filled with desks and some sample parts of the machinery we work with. The walls are painted a simple off-white, and we have some old calendars hanging up to keep track of the weeks. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the building pretty hard, so we keep the curtains drawn to stay cool. Belgaum gets quite warm in the summer, so that afternoon breeze is always welcome. We have a small staff here, and we’ve all been together for a while, so we’re more like a small family than just coworkers. We share snacks and talk about what’s going on in town during our breaks. The road outside can get busy during market hours, but otherwise, it’s a fairly calm place to work. We just focus on our daily tasks, making sure the paperwork is in order and the customers are looked after. It’s honest work and we like being here.
