Our factory is located in Hanamapur, which is part of the Ramdurg Taluk. We go by Sree Sai Baba Jaggery Product Factory Pvt. Ltd. Even though the name sounds a bit formal, we are just a group of people making jaggery. It is a big part of what happens in this district. We get the raw sugarcane from the local farmers who bring it in on carts. The machines here stay busy during the season. There is a lot of steam and heat. We work in shifts to keep everything moving along. Jaggery is a staple around here, so there is always a demand. We do not really do anything else. It is just about getting the juice out, boiling it down, and making the blocks. Sometimes the supply of cane is low, and things get quiet for a few days. But usually, we are quite busy. The floors are often covered in bits of cane fiber. We try to keep it clean, but it is a messy process. Most of our workers live nearby in Hanamapur. We have been here for a good while now. We do not have a marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on the production side of things. People come to the gate to buy what they need. It is a straightforward way to run a business. We know the land and we know the product. That is enough for us to keep going year after year in this part of Ramdurg. The factory stays pretty warm because of the boiling vats, even when it is cool outside. We have to be careful around the machinery.
