Priya Grah Udyog

We are located in Tilakwadi Camp, right near Nandurkar School. It’s a nice enough area, and you can always hear the kids playing or the school bell ringing throughout the day. Our business is quite small and we operate in a very traditional way. Grah Udyog means we do a lot of things by hand, sort of like a home industry. There are usually a few of us sitting together, preparing the food items or packaging them into small bags. It’s a very local feel here. We don’t have a big sign or any fancy lights. Most people in Tilakwadi know us just by word of mouth. We use recipes that have been around for a long time, nothing fancy or modern. The space is filled with the smell of spices and dried goods. It’s a bit cluttered because we have to store everything in a small space, but we know where everything is. When the school lets out, the street gets really busy for a while, and then it goes back to being quiet. We like the pace of life here. It’s not like being in a big factory. We can talk to our neighbors and take a break when we need to. We just focus on making things the way they’ve always been made. It’s a modest way to make a living, but it suits us just fine and keeps us connected to the community around us.
