Our office is in Gokak, specifically in Somawar Peth at Cts No 1981. If you are looking for us, we are right behind the Apsara Hotel and across from the Shankarling Co-Op Society. It’s a central spot in town, so it is pretty easy to get to. The office itself is quite modest. We have the usual desks and cabinets for all the chit fund paperwork. It can get a bit noisy with the hotel nearby and the general bustle of Somawar Peth, but we are used to it by now. We spend most of our time keeping track of the different chit groups and making sure the auctions and payments go as they should. It’s a lot of keeping records and talking to members. Most people who come in are regulars from the neighborhood. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. We just have a sign outside and people know where we are. It’s a practical, everyday kind of place. We keep the tea kettle going and handle the business as it comes in. The Shankarling Society across from us is always busy, so there’s a lot of local movement. We’ve been at this spot for a good while and it feels like home to us. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks and making sure the accounts are all balanced at the end of the day. Things are pretty simple around here.
