Lakshmi Super Market

Lakshmi Super Market is over at 65-21-2 in the Amte area of Belgaum. It’s a local place that we started to help the people in this part of town get their supplies without traveling to the main market. We are a family-run business through and through. My sons help with the inventory and my daughter handles the billing on most afternoons. The shop is full of all kinds of things like lentils, oils, soaps, and plastic containers. We also keep some fresh produce that we get from the local farmers every two days. It isn't a very large store, so things can get a bit tight when more than five people are inside at once. The shelves are a bit mismatched because we bought them at different times, but they hold the weight just fine. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of big wall fans that keep the air moving. Some days it gets quite hot, but that's just Belgaum for you. We don't do any big sales or promotions. We just try to have what people need when they need it. If someone asks for something we don't have, we write it down in a little notebook and try to pick it up the next time we go to the wholesaler. It’s a simple way to run a business, but it works for us and our neighbors. We like being part of the community here in Amte.
