You can find us in the Athani Taluk of Belgaum, specifically in the Agrani-Ingalgaon Abbihal area. It’s a long way from the big cities, sitting in the northern part of Karnataka. Guru Dattatreya Apparels is rooted in this local community. Our workspace is quite basic, built to handle the heat of the region. We have high roofs and big fans to keep the air moving while we work on our garments. Most of the people working here are from the surrounding farms and villages. We know each other's families and what’s happening in the town. It’s not like those big city offices where nobody talks to each other. Here, there is a lot of chatter and laughter even when we are busy with the machines. The dusty roads outside lead to the cotton fields, and that’s a big part of why we are here. We don't have high-tech security or polished marble floors. We have sturdy tables, good light, and people who know how to sew and cut fabric properly. Life moves a bit slower in Athani, and we like it that way. We just focus on making decent clothes and ensuring the work is steady for everyone involved. It’s an honest living, and we take things one day at a time without making a big deal out of it. We just do the work that is in front of us.
