Government Higher Primary School

The Government Higher Primary School is situated in Kallambella, right on the Main Road. Being on the Main Road means we are easy to find, but it also means we deal with a lot of dust and noise from the passing vehicles. It’s a local spot that most people in Kallambella are familiar with because their kids or grandkids probably went here at some point. We have a small yard where the students gather in the mornings for their assembly. The sun can be quite sharp out there, so we try to keep things moving quickly. Inside, the rooms are simple and a bit old-fashioned. We do our best to keep the walls clean and the desks in good shape, though they’ve seen better days. There is a certain rhythm to the day here, starting with the sound of the bell and ending with the scramble of everyone heading home in the afternoon. We don’t have many fancy gadgets or new technology, just the basics like books, paper, and teachers who know their subjects. Sometimes the local goats wander into the yard if someone leaves the gate unlatched, which causes a bit of a stir. It is just a normal school life for us here. We worry about things like the water supply and making sure we have enough chalk for the week. It’s a practical way to spend the day in Kallambella and we just keep at it.
