Our group is the Beereshwar Sheep and Wool Farmers, and you can find us care of Ningappa Pujeri in Shindihatti. We are right near the Kannada school, which is basically the main spot in our village in Hukkeri Taluk. This isn't a fancy office with computers and desks. It’s mostly about the sheep and the wool they produce. We are a producer company, but that just means a bunch of us farmers decided to work together instead of alone. Ningappa has been around a long time and knows the land well. Most of our meetings happen outside or near the school when the kids are in class. Life here is slow, dictated by the seasons and the needs of the animals. When it’s shearing time, everyone is busy and there’s wool everywhere. We don’t have any marketing brochures or big plans to take over the world. We just want to get a fair price for our wool and keep our flocks healthy. The road to Shindihatti can be rough after the rains, but we manage. It’s hard work, and your hands get rough from the wool grease and the ropes, but it’s what we’ve always done. We are just local people in Hukkeri trying to keep our traditions going while making enough to get by. It’s as simple as that. There isn't much more to say about us, we just keep working the land and the animals because it's the life we know.
