Vivek Masala

Running things here in Bakhri is pretty straightforward. We spend a lot of our time just managing the day-to-day stuff that comes with a masala business. It’s not a very quiet place, especially when the machines are going, but you get used to the noise after a few days. We don't have a massive office or a lot of employees, so everyone just chips in where they can. If someone needs help with a heavy bag, whoever is closest just grabs it and helps out. I’ve lived around Bakhri for a long time, so most of the people who come in are neighbors or people I see at the market every week. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes the shop gets a bit cluttered when a new shipment of raw spices arrives. It’s just how it goes when you’re working with bulk goods. The smell stays on your clothes even after you go home, which my family always mentions when I walk through the door. We don’t spend much time on fancy decorations or anything like that because we are too busy filling orders. It’s a honest way to make a living and the days go by fast. Some days are slower than others, but there is always something to clean or a bag to move. We just stick to what we know and keep the shop running as best as we can without making a fuss about it. Bakhri is home, and this shop is just part of the landscape.
