Mata Surti Devi Hospital

Our place, Mata Surti Devi Hospital, sits right at Maheshkhunt Chowk. It’s basically across from the Central Bank, so it’s pretty hard to miss if you’re heading toward the Cheti Durga Mandir. We’ve been here a long time now, and the building has definitely seen a lot of history. The hospital is always busy because of the location, being right at the junction where everyone passes through. It’s a noisy area with all the horns and people talking, but we do our work inside and it stays calm enough. People come in from all the nearby villages because they know the way to the chowk. We deal with all sorts of things, from minor cuts to people who need to stay over for a few days to get better. It's a local hospital, so don't expect shiny glass walls or high-tech lobbies. We focus on getting people back on their feet and back to their homes. The floors have some scuffs from all the traffic over the years. We have different rooms for different needs, though space is always tight. Often, families wait outside near the bank while their relatives are being looked at. Being opposite the Central Bank makes it very easy to give directions to people who aren’t from around here. We know the tea stall owners and shopkeepers nearby well. It’s a tight-knit spot despite all the cars and bikes passing by. We try to keep things moving even when it gets hectic on market days at Maheshkhunt Chowk.
