Sahara Ambulance

We are based at Mahatma Phule Chowk, right on Kolher Road in the Sawata Nagar area of Gevrai. Being near the chowk means we are right in the middle of everything, which is necessary for what we do. The vehicles are usually parked out front or nearby where we can get to them quickly. It is a dusty spot because of all the trucks passing through Gevrai on the way to other towns. Our office is just a small room where we keep the keys and the logbooks. There is usually a couple of us sitting around on plastic chairs waiting for the phone to ring. We don’t have much in the way of furniture—just a desk, a couple of cupboards for supplies, and a charger for the phones. The walls are painted a pale blue that’s started to peel in the corners. We know all the tea stall owners around the chowk, and they know us. It’s a simple life, mostly spent waiting or driving. We don't use any fancy systems, just a notebook to write down the calls and the times. At night, the streetlights at the chowk stay on, and it gets a bit quieter, but not much. People in Sawata Nagar know where to find us if they need anything. We just keep the engines checked and the fuel tanks full, ready for whenever we have to head out.
