Our school is out in Kittiadgaon, which is in the Beed district. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but it’s where we are. We have a decent-sized building here with several rooms for the different grades. It is mostly a quiet place, surrounded by the usual scenery you find around Beed. We have a gate at the front and a small area where the kids can run around during their breaks. The classrooms have basic furniture, and we try to keep everything as clean as we can. Running a school like this means there is always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a broken window latch or a leaky tap in the washroom. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything; we just rely on people in the village knowing we are here. The teachers come in early to get their chalk and boards ready. Most of the children walk to school from the nearby houses. We follow the English medium curriculum, which means there is a lot of reading and writing going on every day. Sometimes we have small events or celebrations, but mostly it is just the daily grind of lessons and homework. We keep our records in big ledgers in the main office. It is a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We just want to make sure the kids in this area have a place to go and learn their ABCs and numbers.
