Our main office is over at Balbhim Chawk in the Dhondipura area of Beed. We’ve been located on Tilak Road for quite a long time now. It’s a very busy and crowded part of town. Running an ambulance service here means we have to deal with some very narrow streets and a lot of motorcycles zipping around. We try to keep the vehicles parked near the chowk so we can pull out quickly when an emergency call comes through. It’s a private company but it’s really just us local folks from Beed working here. The paperwork actually takes up a lot of our time at the main desk. We have to keep a careful log of every single trip we take. Some of our drivers have been with us for many years. They know every single turn and alleyway in this city. It’s not always easy work to do. You end up seeing people on some of their worst days. We just try to get them to the hospital as safely as possible. The office itself isn't much to look at. It's just some basic chairs and a phone that seems to never stop ringing. We eat our meals whenever we can find a spare moment. Sometimes we’re right in the middle of eating and a call comes in. You just have to drop everything and move fast. It’s a bit of a chaotic life but you get used to it.
