Singla Rice Mill

The Singla Rice Mill is located on Lehra Bega Road. It is just a place where we work every day. The morning starts early before the sun gets too high over Bhucho Mandi. You can hear the machines from a distance. Sometimes they are loud and sometimes they just hum. There is always a bit of dust in the air because that is how it goes with rice. We spend a lot of time moving bags from one side of the floor to the other. It is physical work. The walls here have seen better days but they keep the rain off the grain. The trucks come in and out through the gate and the drivers usually want to get back on the road quickly. We have a small table where we sit for tea when there is a break. We don't have fancy office chairs or anything like that. Just a bench and some old cups. The roof gets hot in the summer and we have to open all the doors to get some air moving. It is just a regular mill on the road. Most of the guys here have been working together for a long time so we know who is doing what without talking much. It is just life at the mill. We try to keep things organized but sometimes when a big load comes in, everything gets a bit messy for a few hours until we catch up. We just keep going.
