About Singla Rashim Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Bathinda
My office is right at Arya Samaj Chowk, number 1893. Being in such a central spot means there is always something going on right outside the window. I’ve been practicing architecture here for a good number of years now. Inside, the space is usually filled with books, material samples, and rows of rolled-up drawings. While it isn't the neatest office you’ll ever see, I generally know where everything is kept. I mostly work on my own, though I get a little help when things are really busy. My days are spent drawing up plans for family houses or small shops. It involves a lot of sitting and thinking about how people actually move through a room. Making sure everything meets the local building regulations is also part of it. Sometimes that’s the most frustrating part of the whole job. The chowk is quite noisy, but the sounds of the traffic and the shopkeepers become background noise after a while. I prefer being in the middle of it all rather than in a quiet office park. Instead of using fancy software that does all the heavy lifting, I still do a lot of my thinking on paper. People often stop by with questions about their plots or photos of houses they like. I try to give them straight answers without any fluff. It’s a big responsibility when people are spending their savings on these buildings, so I just focus on the task. It's honest work.
