Rakesh Tea Co.

Rakesh Tea Co. is located at Shop No. 5288 in Bhatinda. We are right near Sirki Bazar, which is a place that never really seems to sleep. There is always someone moving something or shouting about a price. Our shop is just one of many in the area, but we’ve been here long enough that people know where to find us. It’s a small shop, and it’s usually packed with tins and sacks of tea. We don't have much room for a desk, so I usually do my writing on the counter between customers. The air in the shop always has that strong, earthy smell of dry tea leaves. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. We just show people what we have, and they decide for themselves if it’s what they need. Working in Bhatinda means dealing with the dust and the heat, but you get used to it after a while. I’ve been running this place with just a couple of helpers. We do all the bagging and the sealing by hand. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but it keeps us busy. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the narrow lanes near the bazar, and we have to carry the sacks by hand for the last bit. It’s hard work, but it’s ours. We aren't looking to expand into a giant company. We just want to keep the shop going and serve the folks who come through every day.
