R V Rice & General Mills

This mill is out on Baja Road in the Faridkot area and it has been standing here for many years now. We do both rice and some general milling so there is always something different going on depending on the season. The yard is big but it gets filled up quickly with piles of grain waiting to be processed. We have a couple of old tractors that we use for moving things around the property and they are always needing some kind of repair. The air inside the mill is thick with the smell of toasted grain and it is a smell that stays on your clothes long after you go home. We don't have a lot of workers so everyone has to do a bit of everything from cleaning the floors to fixing the belts on the machines. It is a tough business because sometimes the harvest is thin and there isn't much to do but other times we are working late into the night. We keep the gate open during the day so anyone can come in and ask about the current rates or see what we have in stock. There is no corporate office here just a small desk with a lot of papers and an old telephone that rings louder than it needs to. We just try to do our jobs and keep the mill running as steady as we can through the year.
