We are set up on Amrik Singh Road, and if you’ve ever walked down this street, you know how much is going on. Midha Telecom is usually a pretty busy spot. We spend the day looking at cracked screens and trying to figure out why someone’s phone won’t turn on anymore. The counter is usually covered in little screws and tools that I forget to put away when I’m in a hurry. It’s a small shop, so when three or four people come in at once, it feels crowded very fast. We have chargers and cables hanging on the walls, and sometimes the tangles take a few minutes to sort out. People come in with all sorts of problems, and we just sit there and try to fix them while they wait. The noise from Amrik Singh Road is constant, with the horns and the people walking by, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don't have any of those fancy digital displays; we just write things down in a notebook when someone drops off a device. Sometimes we can fix a phone in ten minutes, and other times it sits on the shelf for three days while we wait for a part to arrive. It’s a simple life behind the glass counter, just working with electronics and talking to the neighbors who stop in to top up their data.
