Kataria Rice Mills

If you head down Jaitu Road, you’ll eventually run right into us. Kataria Rice Mills has been operating out of this exact spot for quite some time now. It’s a very straightforward setup. We have the big sheds for storage and the main milling area where all the heavy lifting happens. The road gets extremely busy with tractors and trucks during the harvest season. That’s when things really pick up speed around here and we barely have time to sit. During the day, it's mostly about keeping the machines running and making sure the grain is moving through the pipes like it should. We don't have a big reception area or a place for guests to sit. Usually, you'll just find someone out in the yard or standing near the scales. Jaitu Road is a good spot for us because it’s easy for the farmers to get their loads to us without too much trouble. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, in your hair and clothes, but you get used to it after a few weeks. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next loads to arrive from the fields. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit or stay clean. We’re usually covered in a bit of grit by noon. Kataria Rice Mills is just a local place, run by people who live in the area. We don’t do much advertising. Word of mouth usually does the job for us. When the season finally ends, we spend our time cleaning everything up.
