Goyal Hospital

Our hospital here in Bathinda is usually a busy place, especially since we handle heart and maternity cases. You can hear the sounds of the city outside, but inside, it is a different kind of noise. There is the constant beep of monitors and the sound of staff walking fast down the hallways. We are located right at the Heart & Maternity Centre area. Some mornings are very quiet, and then suddenly three babies are born at once. It keeps us on our toes. The staff room always has a half-empty pot of tea and some biscuits sitting on the table. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building shows its age in some corners. The windows look out over the street where people are always rushing to the market. We have a lot of families waiting in the lobby, sometimes sleeping on the benches if it is a long night. It is a lot of work to keep everything running, from the laundry to the medicine cabinets. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just the stuff we need to get through the day. In the winter, the hallways get a bit chilly, so everyone wears extra layers. We just take things as they come, one patient at a time. It is just the way life is at a hospital in a place like Bathinda. We try to keep a bit of order in all the chaos.
