Dhanaula Rice Mill

If you take the Rajgarh Road you will find us at Dhanaula Rice Mill. It is a straightforward place with a metal roof that makes a lot of noise when it rains. We have a couple of sheds where we keep the finished bags. We have to be very careful to keep them dry. The floors are swept every day but rice husks are light and they fly everywhere anyway. We have a small crew and most of us have been here since we were young. We learned how to run the mill from our fathers and uncles. The machines have been repaired so many times that they are like old friends. You have to know exactly where to hit them to make them stop rattling. We don't have a big office or a place for meetings. We usually just talk while we are working or during the tea break. The Rajgarh Road gets quiet at night but during the day it is full of tractors and wagons. We keep a light on over the main door after dark just so people can see the way. It is not a fancy place and we don't try to make it look like one. We just want to get the work done and get home to our families in the evening. Every day is pretty much the same as the one before and that is fine with us. We just keep the mill running as best we can.
