Brahma Rice Mills

If you head down Bajakhana Road, you’ll find us at Brahma Rice Mills. It’s a busy stretch of road with plenty of traffic, so there’s always something to look at while we work. The mill itself is a big shed that holds a lot of heat in the summer months. We spend most of our time moving bags around and making sure the machines are fed. It’s a loud place to spend the day, and you have to yell a bit if you want anyone to hear you over the roar of the engines. We have a small crew and everyone knows their role. Some days are longer than others, especially when there’s a lot of grain coming in at once. We don't have a big fancy sign or a reception area. Most people just walk into the main area and find whoever is free. The floor is usually covered in a fine layer of dust, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. It’s just part of the job. In the evenings, we shut everything down and it gets strangely quiet. We lock up the gates and head home to get some rest before doing it all again. It's a simple life, honestly. We don't think much about it, we just get the work done and keep things moving as smoothly as we can on this road.
