Bajrang Rice & General Mills

Down here on Baja Khana Road in Faridkot, things stay pretty busy. We’ve been running Bajrang Rice & General Mills for some time. It's a practical setup, nothing too special to look at from the outside. You’ll mostly see stacks of bags and the sound of the hulling machines going all day. The dust gets everywhere, even on our clothes and faces, but that’s just part of the job. In the peak season, the tractors and trailers are lined up all the way down the road. It can be a bit of a mess sometimes with all the traffic. We just try to keep up with the pace. Inside, it’s mostly just us and the machines. We know every sound the equipment makes, even the little squeaks that tell us something needs oiling. Faridkot weather is tough, especially during the harvest months when the heat is heavy. We drink a lot of tea to keep going. It’s not a corporate office where people wear suits. We wear what’s comfortable for moving heavy loads. Our days are long and mostly filled with the smell of raw grain. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk. We just focus on the work at hand and making sure the mill stays running.
