You can find Amrit Iron & Sanitary Wears over in Phul Bazar, right in Rampura Phul near the main chowk. It’s a very noisy part of town because of all the vehicles and people moving through the intersection. Our shop is full of heavy iron pipes and all sorts of sanitary fittings. Dealing with iron is a dirty job; our clothes usually end up with rust marks or grease by noon. We’ve got stacks of pipes leaning against the walls and bins full of small parts. Sometimes the layout feels a bit like a maze, especially when we get a large delivery of bathroom fixtures. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s just a practical space where we store and sell what people need for their plumbing and construction work. The main chowk is always bustling, and sometimes the noise makes it hard to hear ourselves think, but you get used to it after a few weeks. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next customer to walk in. Most of the folks who come here are locals or builders working on houses in the area. We do our best to keep things moving so nobody is waiting too long. It’s a straightforward business. We just open up the shutters every morning and get to work until it’s time to head home. The heavy metal pieces take a toll on the floor, but it holds up.
