L &T Construction

We’re set up in Majhari Village, specifically in the Ramnagar Block. If you're coming down Dumariyaganj Road, we are pretty close to the SBI Bank, which is the main landmark everyone uses to find us. L &T Construction here is a local operation. We deal with the day-to-day of building stuff and moving materials. There’s always dust on the boots and stacks of bricks or sand somewhere nearby in the yard. It’s a busy spot because of the traffic near the bank. We do a lot of coordination for local projects. It’s not like those big city firms; we know the people we’re building for personally. Most of our mornings start early before the sun gets too high over Basti District. We spend time on the phone with suppliers and checking on the crews at the sites. The office is just a place to keep the plans and the tools locked up. We don’t have fancy furniture, just what we need to get the job done. Sometimes the power goes out in the village and we just have to wait it out or work by the windows. It’s a simple way of working. We focus on the concrete and the steel. People stop by to ask about materials or just to chat about a wall they need fixed. We’ve been part of this community for a while. It’s noisy and messy work, but it feels like we're doing something real for the area.
