If you look for us in Aligarh, you’ll find us at number 108 in Nayi Basti Jattari. It’s a busy part of town, always something going on in the lanes. Human Scope Foundation Of India is run out of this small building. We’ve been here for a bit now, and we’ve gotten used to the noise of the bikes and the vendors outside. The room we use is simple, with just the basic stuff we need to get through the day. We don’t have a receptionist or anything fancy. Usually, one of us just answers the door if someone knocks. Aligarh has its own pace, and we just follow along with it. The office is often full of papers and empty tea cups by the end of the day. We try to keep it tidy, but it’s hard when you’re busy. The neighbors are nice, they often pop their heads in to say hello. It’s a very grounded way to work. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations because we don’t see the point. We’d rather just focus on the tasks we have for the week. The stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful coming up. It’s just a regular spot in a regular part of Aligarh, and that suits us just fine. We are here most days from morning until it gets dark.
