Annapurna Jan Seva Foundation

We are located at number 51 in Brahaman Basti, which is part of Undra. It is a very local neighborhood where everyone pretty much knows everyone else’s business. The foundation is run out of a simple building that fits right in with the houses around it. Undra is a place where things don't change very fast. Our office is just a few rooms with tiled floors and some sturdy wooden tables. We don't have a big sign out front, just a small one near the door. The basti is usually quiet in the middle of the day but gets lively in the evenings when kids are playing in the streets. We have a small sink in the corner and a cupboard full of files that seem to grow every month. Most of our day is spent talking to the people who live nearby. We don't use much fancy technology, just the basics to keep things moving. There is an old dog that usually sleeps near our entrance and we just let him be. The air here feels a bit cleaner than in the bigger cities. We like being tucked away in this part of town. It feels right to be close to where people actually live their lives. Every morning we sweep the front step and start the day’s work without much fuss or any big complicated plans.
